Biographical Summary:
SYDNEY AIRMAN KILLED.
A cablegram received by Mr. Alfred B. Hunt, M.L.C, yesterday announced that his son, 2nd-Lieutenant Alfred Stanley Hunt, had been killed as the result of an aeroplane collision. He was educated at Newington College, after which he went to his father's station on The Bogan. In November, 1915, he went with his brother, Private George Bruce Fletcher Hunt, who was killed at Pozieres, to Egypt and thence to France. After serving at Hill 60 and in the front trenches before Bapaume, Lieutenant Hunt went to England, where, after training, he was granted a commission in the Royal Flying Corps.
Killed in aerial collision during formation flying 1130 am near Yatesbury Aerodrome with 59 Training Squadron (RE8). Buried All Saints Churchyard, Yatesbury, Wiltshire, England.
The photograph seen on this page was attached to his Royal Aero Club Aviators' Certificate, which states he passed his flying test on a Caudron Biplane at Ruffy-Baumann School, Acton, 30 April 1917.
His sister Majorie married Lieutenant H. Bowden Fletcher, D.F.C., also a pilot in the WWI, and a Mosman local. Source: The Queenslander, 1919.
