Biographical Summary:
A horse breaker who enlisted on 17 August 1914 in the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force (ANMEF) which was sent to occupy German dependencies in the Pacific. He embarked at Sydney on 19 August and on his return was discharged from the ANMEF on 4 March 1915.
He enlisted in the AIF on 10 April 1915 and departed for Egypt with the 19th Battalion on 25 June and arrived on 23 July 1915.
After a short stay in Egypt, the battalion embarked for Gallipoli on 16 August and landed five days later. He was killed in action on 29 September when the battalion was in the front line at Popes Post. [JSB]
