Biographical Summary:
A customs agent who enlisted in the AIF on 13 May 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 19 June 1915.
In early August 1915 he landed at Gallipoli and joined the 20th Battalion. He was evacuated to hospital to Mudros, Greece on 21 August suffering from dysentery and then was moved on 1 September to Heliopolis, Egypt for further treatment and convalescence.
He resumed normal duties on 23 April 1916 but was evacuated to hospital a week later with dysentery and rheumatism. It was decided that he should return to Australia for “a change”.
He embarked on 24 June 1916 and arrived on 22 July then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 25 September 1916. [JSB]
