Biographical Summary:
An electrical mechanical engineer who enlisted in the AIF on 5 July 1915. He embarked with the 30th Battalion for Egypt on 9 November and arrived on 11 December 1915.
He was transferred to the 13th Field Company Engineers on 22 March 1916 and arrived at Marseilles, France on 13 June 1916. His unit moved immediately to Strazeele in northern France.
On 10 October 1917 he was evacuated to hospital in France and then England suffering from exhaustion and debility. Following treatment during which he was diagnosed as suffering from neurasthenia, it was decided that he should return to Australia for a “change”.
He embarked on 21 April 1918 and arrived on 7 June then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 31 October 1918. [JSB]
