Biographical Summary:
A carter who enlisted in the AIF on 10 January 1916. He embarked for England on 5 June and arrived in August 1916.
On 21 October 1916, he joined the 13th Battalion then in a rest area at Steenvoorde in northern France. On 12 March 1917 he was evacuated to hospital in France and diagnosed as suffering from myalgia. In April he was evacuated to England for further treatment and convalescence.
In August, he commenced training to return to the front line but after several setbacks due to myalgia it was decided that he should return to Australia.
He embarked on 21 April 1918 and arrived in June then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 13 August 1918. [JSB]
