Biographical Summary:
A farm labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 17 February 1916. He embarked for England on 14 April and arrived on 9 August after an extended stay in Egypt for training.
He joined the 53rd Battalion which was in the front line at Fleurbaix, France, on 30 September 1916. He was evacuated to hospital in France with trench feet on 22 December and then to England on 12 January 1917 for further treatment and convalescence.
He rejoined the 53rd Battalion which was then out of the front line at Becourt, France, on 21 April 1917.
He embarked for Australia on 2 June 1919 and arrived on 19 July then was discharged from the AIF on 4 September 1919. [JSB]
