Biographical Summary:
A despatch clerk who enlisted in the AIF on 25 September 1914. He embarked for Egypt on 21 December with the 6th Company, Australian Army Service Corps.
He landed at Gallipoli on 4 October 1915 and following the withdrawal in December returned to Egypt on 21 December 1915.
On 19 May he was transferred to Headquarters, Army Service Corps (ASC), Australian and New Zealand Mounted Division and remained there until transferred on 11 September to the 26th Depot Unit of Supply (DUS). On 13 June 1917 he was transferred to the 27th DUS but the next month he was transferred to Headquarters ASC, Australian Mounted Division.
In February 1917 he had been promoted to Sergeant. In September 1917 he was appointed a Second Lieutenant and transferred to the 36th (previously the 996th) Company, ASC. On 9 September 1918, he rejoined the 27th DUS.
He embarked for Australia on 25 December 1918 and arrived on 10 February then his appointment was terminated on 15 April 1919. [JSB]
