Biographical Summary:
A clerk who enlisted in the AIF on 10 August 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 20 December.
He was allotted to the 3rd Battalion on 14 February 1916. He was admitted to hospital on 19 February suffering from typhoid. Following treatment and convalescence he was discharged in April but was soon after admitted to hospital with rheumatism. Following his discharge to duty, he was medically classified on 26 May as fit only for non-combat duties.
In early September he arrived in England and commenced training for combat duties and by March 1917 he was reclassified for service in France and Belgium. He commenced the next stage of training but in August he was reclassified for service in Australia due to “debility”.
He embarked for Australia on 31 January 1918 and arrived on 15 April then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 24 May 1918. [JSB]
