Biographical Summary:
An engineer and coppersmith who enlisted in the AIF on 7 December 1915, aged 40; understating his age by five years. He embarked for England on 14 March and arrived on 16 June 1916.
At the time of his arrival he was to be a reinforcement for the 31st Battalion. On 1 January 1917 he was transferred to the permanent establishment of the 8th Training Battalion at Tidworth, England.
He embarked for Australia on 22 July and arrived on 25 September 1917 then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 24 October 1917. [JSB]
