Biographical Summary:
A medical practitioner who was appointed to the AIF on 18 December 1916. He embarked for England on 7 February and arrived on 11 April 1917.
He submitted the following service summary to Sydney University:
“Harry Leaver, B.A., B.Sc., M.B., Ch.M., M.C.O.G. : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., England and France. … , served as M.O. No. 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, R.M.O. 62nd Battn. in France (sic) from nth (13th) May and M.O., No. 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, from 7th October. Recrossing to France, joined 10th Australian Field Ambulance in May, 1918 (sic), and 9th in June (sic), being R.M.O. (detached to) 41st Battn. during advance to Hindenburg Line at Bony in September and No. 3 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, from November until demobilisation.” Source: Beyond 1914: The University of Sydney and the Great War.
He embarked for Australia on 2 April 1919 and arrived on 32 May then his appointment in the AIF was terminated on 28 July 1919. [JSB]
