Biographical Summary:
A horse driver who enlisted in the AIF on 15 December 1914. He embarked for Egypt on 11 February 1915.
He joined the 4th Battalion and embarked for Gallipoli but was medically evacuated from Lemnos, Greece to Egypt on 25 April. He then embarked for Australia on 4 May and arrived on 1 June then was discharged from the AIF on 2 July 1915.
He attempted to re-enlist on the same day but was rejected as medically unfit. He enlisted in the AIF a second time on 28 September 1916. He embarked for England on 3 November and arrived on 9 January 1917.
He joined the 60th Battalion on 29 September but on 19 October was evacuated to hospital with a recurrence of a fallen arch on his left foot. He was evacuated to England and reclassified as fit for base duties only.
He embarked for Australia on 10 January and arrived on 7 March 1918 then was discharged from the AIF on 4 April 1918. [JSB]
