Biographical Summary:
A labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 20 January 1915. He embarked with the 27th Battalion on 31 May.
He landed at Gallipoli with his battalion on 10 September. On 22 October he was evacuated to the Casualty Clearing Station at Anzac Cove suffering from enteritis which was later diagnosed as enteric fever. He was then evacuated to Egypt on 25 October. Following treatment is was decided that he should return to Australia.
He embarked on 3 January and arrived on 5 February 1916. Following convalescence and further training he embarked for England on 7 October and arrived on 21 November 1916.
He rejoined the 27th Battalion which was then out of the front line near Flers, France on 9 February 1917.
He embarked for Australia on 9 February 1919 and arrived on 26 March then was discharged from the AIF on 29 August 1919. [JSB]
