Biographical Summary:
A brass finisher who enlisted in the AIF on 30 September 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 20 December 1915 and arrived in early February.
He was initially a reinforcement for the 6th Australian Light Horse Regiment but was transferred to Artillery in March then the 5th Australian Divisional Cyclist Company on 12 May 1916. His unit embarked for France on 17 June and arrived at Marseilles on 26 June then immediately moved to northern France. The 5th Cyclist Company was absorbed into the 2nd Anzac Corps Cyclist Battalion on 26 July 1916. On 20 August 1917 he was transferred to the 1st Anzac Corps Cyclist Battalion.
He embarked for Australia on 11 May and arrived on 27 June then was discharged from the AIF on 23 August 1919. [JSB]
