Biographical Summary:

A grazier who enlisted in the AIF on 11 February 1916. He embarked for Egypt on 19 September 1916.

Following further training, he joined the 4th Machine Gun Squadron on 23 February 1917, at the time of its formation at Ferry Post, Ismailia, Egypt. In late May 1917, he was evacuated to hospital in Cairo for treatment of persistent diarrhoea.

It was decided that he should return to Australia due to his “debility”. He embarked on 11 July and arrived on 24 August and then was discharged from the AIF on 28 September 1917. [JSB]
