Biographical Summary:
A steward who enlisted in the AIF 29 January 1916. He embarked for England on 11 November 1916 and arrived on 30 January 1917.
He joined the 1st Field Ambulance in France on 30 March 1917 and was then detached to the 1st Machine Gun Company on 1 May 1917. He was wounded (right hand) in action 20 September 1917 when that unit was near Voormezeele, Belgium. He was evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence. After retraining in England, he rejoined the 1st Field Ambulance on 16 January 1918.
He embarked for Australia on 23 June 1919 as a member of the nursing staff on the SS Orita and arrived on 6 August 1919 and then was discharged from the AIF on 4 September 1919. [JSB]
