Biographical Summary:
A groom who enlisted in the AIF on 16 January 1916. He embarked for England on 9 April 1916 and arrived on 16 June 1916.
He joined the 30th Battalion in France on 26 September 1916. On 24 December he was detached to the 14th Brigade Headquarters and was wounded (chest) in action on 26 September 1917 when the Brigade Headquarters were at Hooge, Belgium east of Ypres and it’s battalions were in action near Zonnebeke. He was evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence. He joined AIF Headquarters on 9 September 1918.
He married Alice Maud Cox at Exeter, Devon, England on 21 July 1919. He embarked for Australia on 9 December 1919 and arrived on 2 February 1920. He was discharged from the AIF on 17 April 1920. [JSB]
