Biographical Summary:
A labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 4 July 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 30 September 1915.
He joined the 17th Battalion on 10 January 1916. After further training the Battalion arrived in France on 23 March 1916. In December 1917 he was attached to 1st Anzac Headquarters and in September 1918 he was transferred to Australian Corps Headquarters. On 23 November 1918, he commenced a detachment to AIF Headquarters in London carrying out transport duties with the AIF Repatriation Directorate.
He married Mary Ann Ada Hawkins in London on 4 September 1919. He embarked for Australia on 22 November 1919 and arrived on 5 January 1920, then was discharged from the AIF on 4 April 1920. [JSB]
