Biographical Summary:

A licensed surveyor who enlisted in the AIF on 1 August 1917, aged 53 years. He understated his age by eight years. He was discharged on 27 September 1917 to allow him to enlist in the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force (ANMEF). He embarked on 28 Sep 1917 for Rabaul where he arrived on 18 October 1917.

He was detailed to work with the Lands and Survey Department of the Australian administration of German New Guinea.

He embarked for Australia on 2 December 1918 and arrived on 20 December 1918. He was discharged from the ANMEF on 31 December 1918. [JSB]
