Biographical Summary:
A Gunner in the Royal Australian Garrison Artillery who enlisted in the AIF on 5 June 1915. He embarked for England on 17 July 1915 with the 36th Australian Heavy Artillery Group (later Brigade).
His unit moved to France in February 1916. He was wounded (right leg) in action on 10 July 1917 when his battery was bombed by German planes near Adinkerke, Belgium. He was evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence.
After it was decided that he should return to Australia, he embarked on 20 December 1917 and arrived on 13 February 1918. He was discharged from the AIF on 8 May 1918. He eventually resumed full time service in the Australian Military Forces. [JSB]
