Biographical Summary:
A grazier who enlisted in the AIF in June 1917, aged 42 years. Embarked for the UK on 2 August 1917 and arrived on 2 October 1917. After further training in England, he joined the 36th Battalion in Belgium on 28 January 1918.
He was wounded (right hand) in action 4 April 1918 when the 36th came under sustained bombardment near Villers-Bretonneux. He was evacuated to England for treatment and was discharged from hospital on 30 June 1918. He departed for Australia on 3 August 1918 and arrived on 4 September 1918. He was discharged from the AIF on 7 March 1919. [JSB]
