William Bosville Baverstock

Biographical Summary:
A clerk who enlisted in the AIF in February 1918. He embarked for England on 19 June 1918 and arrived on 26 August. He was allotted to the 4th Battalion and was training in England when the war ended. He joined the 4th Battalion in France in December 1918.
In March 1919, he was transferred to London to serve with the Australian Army Pay Corps. He was discharged from the AIF in London on 21 May 1919 and next day joined the British Army.
He and a number of other Australians who had also been discharged from the AIF were allotted to the 201st Machine Gun Battalion which was sent immediately as part of the North Russian Relief Force to Archangel, Russia to help the British and Allied forces increasingly under attack from Bolshevik forces. The Force remained in Archangel until September 1919 when all British and Allied forces were withdrawn. [JSB]
