Biographical Summary:
A native of Surrey, England, Pte England was a storeman from Mosman, NSW, and claimed to be aged 20 when he embarked with A Company from Sydney on HMAT Afric on 18 October 1914. Later wounded at Gallipoli, he was evacuated to England and promoted to Corporal. Following further illness he returned to Australia on 4 May 1917 and was medically discharged. (Source: AWM)
