Died on service.
Arthur Pickering was one of 40 reinforcements received on 4 August 1916 by the 18th Battalion which was at Pozieres. Two high explosive shells landed on the Battalion headquarters killing two and wounding 23 others, including Arthur who subsequently died of his wounds at the 104th Field Ambulance. It was his first day at the front. [JSB]
