Biographical Summary:
Enlisted at Brisbane as a Lance Corporal in the 3rd Field Company Engineers. He was at Gallipoli when he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and transferred to the 5th Field Company Engineers. He transferred to the 8th Field Company Engineers in 1916 and rose to the rank of Major in command of that unit.
He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order and the Belgian Croix de Guerre and was twice Mentioned in Despatches. [JSB]
