… I enlisted at Sydney in May 1915 as one of the 6th reinforcements of the 4th Battalion regimental number 2191. I landed at Gallipoli in time for the Lone Pine battle in which I participated. Left Gallipoli during September 1915 suffering from dysentery, and was a patient at Heliopolis and Helouan where I was returned to Australia in Jan (sic) 1916 and discharged in July of that year. …
