William David Lewis

Biographical Summary:
A labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 30 September 1914, aged 53. He embarked for Egypt on 22 December and arrived in January 1915.
He landed at Gallipoli in May 1915 then was evacuated to Mudros, Greece on 23 July where he was diagnosed with a cardiac condition and no longer fit for active service. He then was transferred to Malta and later to Egypt for treatment and convalescence.
He embarked for Australia on 7 September and arrived in October 1915 then was discharged from the AIF on 26 April 1916. [JSB]
