"Served Boer War, British Army. Brother of Alfred (Joseph) Richards, VC, Lancashire Fusiliers, W Beach Gallipoli, one of six VCs won by the Lancashire  Fusiliers "before breakfast", 25 April 1915. Also brother of Chaplain Robert Richards MC NZEF and C E (Charles Edward) Richards, 15 Field Company Engineers, AIF."
