Killed in action on 14 June 1917 at Souvenir (Ammunition) Dump located at Wulverghem when a German shell landed on the dump.
The 10th Field Artillery Brigade's Commander's Diary for that day describes the event:
(10th) Brigade dump was blown up by enemy shelling at 6 pm. 110th Howitzer bty (sic) had fatigue party working on dump at time but every man became a casualty to the extent of 18 killed and 8 wounded.
