William Barker Hart

Biographical Summary:

Brother of Dorothy Hart, "Murcott", 6 Mosman Street, Mosman, and Ellen Hart, 141 Woodstock Road, Oxford, England.

Gives the Mosman Street address as his own in his will.

Killed in a raid south of Morlancourt on enemy trenches led by Captain K. R. Wyllie on 4 July 1918. A report on the operation can be found in the 55th Battalion's war diary.

Hart was in B Company. He was hit by shell fire, probably trench mortar, when on or at the tape line in no man's land, in the early hours of the morning, when the raiders prepared to attack.

Two witnesses mentioned that the Manchester Guardian was sent to him while in the army.
