Biographical Summary:
Eldest son of George and Annie Rowlands of 45 Myahgah Road, Mosman.
Killed by shellfire, coming out of the lines at Zonnebeke Ridge, during the Battle of Passchendaele.
He was a Lewis gunner in "A" Company, 3 Platoon.
At about 1.30 a.m. as the Company was marching along a railway line they turned off into a sunken road but found that it had a dead end. As they turned to come back a shell dropped right in the midst of the party killing Rowlands outright and wounding several others.
