Son of Joseph William Crossman and Amelia Crossman, of 2 Richmond Terrace, Buckland, Monachorum, Devon, England. Eldest brother of Kathleen Crossman.

On enlistment lived at "Rougemont", Vincenz Street (now Awaba Street), Mosman, with uncle and aunt Mr and Mrs H Brown.

Wounded in action 9 April 1917. Rejoined unit 29 May 1917.

"... killed instantly on 27.10.17 at Belgian Chateau (Belgium) by enemy Aero Bombs. He was buried in rear of Chateau in Grave No.12, at BELGIAN BATTERY CORNER Military Cemetery (1 mile S.W. of YPRES)." - C.O. 2nd Aust. Battalion
