“Corporal Charles Thomas Brown (589, 13th Battalion) was born in Ryde, NSW, on 8 January 1899. He was studying electrical engineering before he enlisted in September 1914 under the alias Charles Bennett. Charles was killed late in the evening of 28 June 1916 when the battalion came under heavy bombardment while relieving the 18th Battalion at White City Post near Erquinghem, France. He is buried in the Brewery Orchard Cemetery, Bois-Grenier, France. Charles was 17 and a half years old at the time of his death.”
