A motor mechanic who enlisted in the AIF on 15 May 1916. He embarked for England on 11 May and arrived on 19 July 1917.
He joined the 4th Squadron, Australian Flying Corps (AFC) which was designated the 71st Squadron by the Royal Flying Corps, in France on 5 January 1918. He was accidently injured (laceration left thigh, abrasions to left leg and arms) by a rotating propeller on 22 June 1918 and evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence.
He returned to duty on 2 November with the 5th Training Squadron, AFC at Minchinhampton, Gloucestshire.
He embarked for Australia on 6 May 1919 and arrived on 19 June then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 8 October 1919. [JSB]
