An accountant who enlisted in the AIF on 28 February 1916. He embarked for England on 22 August and arrived on 13 October 1916.
He joined the 17th Battalion on 2 May 1917 on the eve of the Battle of Bullecourt and served with the Battalion until the end of the war.
In January 1919, he was promoted to Sergeant and attached to 2nd Division Headquarters in Belgium to join others providing Educational Training to Divisional personnel. In May 1918, he was transferred to the AIF Education Service at AIF Headquarters in London.
He embarked for Australia on 2 July 1919 and arrived on 17 August then was discharged from the AIF on 5 October 1919. [JSB]
