A permanent member of the Royal Australian Navy throughout the war. During that time he served at sea on HMAS Sydney and HMAS Brisbane apart from being ashore at HMAS Cerberus, Western Port Bay, Victoria from June to October 1917.
He married Irene May Gibb of Mosman in May 1918 and made Mosman his home. [JSB]
