A manager who enlisted in the AIF on 10 December 1915. He embarked for England on 11 May and arrived on 10 July 1916.
He joined the 7th Field Artillery Brigade in January 1917. On 8 February 1917 his right big toe was fractured in an accident and he was evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence. He did not fully recover and while undertaking training to return to the front he was classified for base service in England. He was transferred to the permanent establishment of the 3rd Australian Command Depot on 1 January 1918. In September 1918 he developed nephitis and it was decided that he should return to Australia.
He embarked on 8 November and arrived on 29 December 1918. Following further treatment he was discharged from the AIF on 14 December 1919. [JSB]
