A brass finisher who enlisted in the AIF on 7 November 1916. He embarked for England on 25 November but disembarked at Fremantle, WA on 4 December suffering from pneumonia. He re-embarked for England on 29 June and arrived on 25 August 1917.
While he was training in England a request was received from his brother, Colin Bathurst Forsyth, that his brother be allowed to return to Australia for family reasons, namely, to provide financial support for his mother and siblings. Approval for his return to Australia was given on 23 January 1918.
He embarked on 15 February and arrived on 16 April and was then discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 1 May 1918. [JSB]
