A labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 24 March 1916. He embarked for England on 22 August and arrived on 13 October 1916.
He joined the 18th Battalion in France on 5 February 1917. He was evacuated a week later for treatment of an eye condition as a result of which he was invalided in England on 3 May 1917 and classified for base service.
On 1 July 1917, he was attached to the 15th Training Battalion. On 4 August 1917, he married Kathleen Andrews at Gunnesbury, London.
He remained in England until he embarked for Australia on 5 September and arrived on 8 November 1919 and then was discharged from the AIF on 28 December 1919. [JSB]
