A trained nurse who enlisted in the AIF on 10 May 1917 under the surname of her stepfather, Thomas Lewis Davey. She overstated her age by three years. She embarked for Egypt on 9 June and arrived on 19 July 1917.
On 12 August she embarked for Salonika, Greece and three days later commenced duty at the British 50th General Hospital there. On 16 May 1918 she was transferred to the 42nd British General Hospital until she returned to the 50th British General Hospital in September 1918.
On 11 February 1919 she embarked for England and arrived on 25 February. Following leave she joined the 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital at Dartford, England.
She embarked for Australia on 28 August and arrived on 26 October 1919 and then was discharged from the AIF on 29 February 1920.
For her "conspicuous service" in Salonika she was awarded the Greek Medal for Military Merit 4th Class in November 1919. [JSB]
