A labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 13 Jul 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 11 March 1916 and arrived on 14 April 1916.
He embarked for England on 28 May 1916 for further training. He joined the 8th Company Field Engineers on 16 January 1917. He was wounded (right shoulder) in action 14 October 1917 when his unit was working in the vicinity of Broodeseinde Ridge, Belgium. He was evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence.
He embarked for Australia on 15 February 1918 and arrived on 16 April 1918 and then discharged on 23 July 1918.
