Cadet Draughtsman with the NSW Department of Lands prior to his enlistment in the AIF in December 1914.

He landed at Gallipoli with the 4th Battalion on 25 April 1915.  He was wounded in the cheek and scalp on 29 April and was evacuated to Alexandria and then to England for treatment.

He was appointed a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), in January 1916.  After officer training at Fermoy, Cork, Ireland, he went to the front line with the Rifle Brigade.  He was killed in action on 3 September 1916 while attached to the 16th Battalion, Rifle Brigade.  He is commemorated at the Thiepval Memorial.  [JSB]
