A member of the Royal Australian Navy who had enlisted in 1913 after serving as a Boy Sailor.

During the war he served at sea on HMAS Sydney and HMAS Australia. He was aboard the Sydney when it attacked the German raider Emden off the Cocos Islands. He continued to serve in the Navy until 1949.

He married his cousin Bessie Redding at East Ham, Essex in 1917. [JSB]
