A stockman who enlisted in the AIF on 17 September 1914 and embarked for Egypt on 20 December 1914.

He joined the 2nd Australian Light Horse Regiment as a reinforcement at Gallipoli on 23 June 1915. He was wounded (left thigh and groin) in action on 7 August when his unit undertook a sustained attack on the Turkish trenches at Quinn's Post. The attack resulted in the unit losing 17 killed and 37 wounded. He was evacuated to England via Lemnos, Greece and Malta for treatment and convalescence.

He embarked for Australia on 19 January and arrived on 29 February 1916 and then was discharged from the AIF on 13 July 1916. [JSB]
