A boot salesman who enlisted in the AIF on 24 January 1916. He embarked for Egypt on 8 July 1916 and arrived about 12 August 1916.
He was to join the 12th Light Horse Regiment but due to successive bouts of ill health remained with the 2nd and then 4th Light Horse Training Regiments. On 28 September 1917, a Medical Board decided that he should return to Australia suffering from debility caused by dysentry.
He embarked for Australia on 12 November 1917 and arrived on 20 December 1917. He was discharged from the AIF on 21 February 1918 as medically unfit. [JSB]
