A tram driver who enlisted in the AIF on 7 April 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 15 May 1915 with the 3rd Australian General Hospital (AGH).

His unit was moved in August 1915 to Lemnos, Greece in order to treated wounded and sick soldiers evacuated from Gallipoli. It returned to Egypt in January 1916 and remained there until October 1916 when it moved to Brighton, England. It relocated to Abbeville, France in May 1917.

He had an extended period where he undertook other duties. On 2 September 1916 he embarked for Australia as part of the nursing staff on the troop ship Ascanius which arrived in Sydney on 29 September 1916. He re-embarked on 31 October 1916 on the Marathon for England where he arrived on 9 January 1917.

Between January and October 1917 he was posted to the Australian Army Medical Corps Training Depot at Parkhouse, Wiltshire. He then rejoined the 3rd AGH which was at Abbeville, France.

He embarked for Australia on 3 September 1919 and arrived on 24 October 1919. He was discharged from the AIF on 23 December 1919. [JSB]
