Visiting Canberra?

Those with an interest in Mosman’s connections with WWI are well served by the National Gallery of Australia’s exhibition, Artists of the Great War.

Hilda Rix Nicholas, ‘These gave the world away’ 1917

This small but well-considered collection draws upon a range of works — from propaganda to documentary, vernacular and artistic.

Well represented are illustrators and painters who worked or lived in Mosman. Among those are Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton, Hilda Rix Nicholas, David Barker, Fred Leist and Harry Weston.

Artists of the Great War is showing until June 2017.
