Mosman Library has joined the First World War Centenary Partnership led by the British Imperial War Museums, and your group might like to join too.

The Partnership, currently numbering about 1,000, is open to non-commercial organisations with an interest in and aspirations for Centenary activity, including museums, archives, libraries, special interest groups, universities, colleges, schools and community groups.

Australian members include the Australian War Memorial, institutions like the NAA and places like Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance.

The IWM is offering partners free photographs and video from its collection, among other resources, but perhaps the principal benefit is access to a members-only website where you can share information with centenary projects around the world.

If you go to the website harefieldanzac.mikerimmersphotos.com you’ll see hundreds of photos taken during recent Anzac Day ceremonies. One of the Anzac graves in the cemetery is that of Staff Nurse Ruby Dickinson. She worked in the Anzac hospital at Harefield and died on 23 June 1918. She was born in Forbes but her parents, William and Julie, later took the family to ‘Arizona’, Almora Street in Mosman. I’ll be attending the Harefield ceremony, along with a WW2/Korean War vet, and will make sure I take a photo of your Ruby’s grave.

Thank you, Mike, very kind. We look forward to the photo. I’ll reciprocate with a photo of Sister Dickinson’s name on the Mosman War Memorial.

We have a post on Mosman’s nurses with a roll drawn from Dr Kirsty Harris’ database. Of interest in Sister Dickinson’s record is her service with the 3rd Australian General Hospital at Lemnos.
