'A story of the trench' by Cpl. Reg Dargan

Exactly 100 years ago today Corporal Reginald Dargan had A story of the trench, published in the The Mosman Daily .
The poem was written from 1st hand experience, probably whilst recovering from his 3rd lot of war ending injuries.

Patrick Francis Hogan

Today (21 September 2017) is the 100th anniversary of Patrick Francis Hogan being killed in action. He was a journalist who enlisted in the AIF in February 1915.

Capt. Taylor & 'The doomed Rumpler'

On the 20th AUG 1917, 2/Lt P.G. Taylor Shot down an enemy 2-seater aircraft. The experience increased his yearning to finish the war and return home.

A light on the Hill: The Great Strike, 1917.

Disenchantment with the War and falling living standards led to arguably the greatest industrial unrest in Australia’s History. The National Film and Sound Archive has released footage which includes images of ‘free-labourers’ returning by ferry to their camp at Taronga Zoo, and protesters with placards decrying the use of the zoo as a camp for strike-breakers.
