An agent who enlisted in the AIF on 3 October 1914. He embarked with the 1st Field Artillery Brigade (FAB) for Egypt on 18 October and arrived on 7 December 1914.

The 1st FAB landed at Gallipoli on 4 May 1915. His records indicate that he remained in Egypt. After the withdrawal from Gallipoli in December the 1st FAB fully reformed in Egypt in January 1916. On 27 March 1916 it landed at Marseille, France and stayed nearby until moving on 10 April to Caestre in northern France.

On 8 August 1918 he sprained his ankle and was evacuated to hospital in England. He was medically reclassified as unfit for front line service and it was decided that he should return to Australia.

He embarked on 20 November 1918 and arrived on 5 January then was discharged from the AIF on 7 March 1919. [JSB]
