A driver who enlisted in the AIF on 29 May 1916 understating his true age of 46 by 13 years. He embarked for England on 9 November 1916 and arrived on 9 January 1917.
Following further training in England, he joined the 1st Battalion on 3 July 1917. He was evacuated to hospital in France on 15 September 1917 for treatment of impetigo. In December he was evacuated to England and also treated for acute bronchitis.
He embarked for Australia on 31 January and arrived on 15 April 1918 then was discharged from the AIF on 16 May 1918. [JSB]
